Arches
What’s the difference between a vertical carpet, a tapestry, a curtain, a textile wall, a sheer curtain? The lines become blurred. This tufted double-curtain, aptly named “ARCHES” in reference to the often magisterial and theatrical Italian architecture, invites the user to walk around it, to interact with it. A paradox emerges between the transparency and lightness of the dyed canvas in a fade of colors, and the heaviness of the tufted lines in coarse wool yarns. Here, the technique used to create carpets is hijacked to create a curtain, sensuously dividing up the space.
