Paris design week – ON TEXTURE
On the occasion of Paris Design Week 2025, Espace Coutures Saint-Gervais, located at 6 rue des Coutures Saint-Gervais in the Marais district, hosts the exhibition On Texture, bringing together around twenty designers and artisans around a shared thread: material as a starting point, as a language, as an experience.
Curated by Mathilde Juliette Florence, a textile designer herself, On Texture explores our tactile, sensory and emotional relationship to material. Wood, metal, ceramic, textile, glass and composite materials intersect and resonate with one another, driven by a shared desire to reveal and evoke texture in all its formal and symbolic richness. The participants’ studios are mainly based in France, as well as in Brussels and London.
Within this context, Maak & Transmettre presents Velluto dégradé, a hand-tufted textile curtain that explores material as a sensitive and vibrant surface. Designed in our Brussels-based studio, Velluto dégradé plays with chromatic variations, the depth of wool, and the dialogue between light, colour and texture. Conceived as both a functional and expressive object, the curtain fully embodies the spirit of On Texture, making textile a true medium of experience and perception.
