Maak & Transmettre is a collective, comprising textile and industrial designers Mathilde Pecqueur, Salomé Corvalan and Alice Emery. Combining their different sensibilities, they subvert the tufting* technique, developing a range of applications beyond rug making. The collective’s practice fluctuates between art and design, in addition to its educational work with a broad range of audiences.
Social and political commitment is an important part of their work. This leads to collaborations with local associations as well as lectures on the role of women in design. These exchanges around transmission directly feed into their own productions.
For this triptych, dreamlike images are at the very heart of their collection. The collective expresses its creative urges with tools such as words and writing, using narrative to relate different memories and sensations. One could speak of intuitive design, giving rise to everyday objects with poetic overtones: curtains with arches evoking twilight, tapestries pierced by a window… Thus, the boundaries between interior design and scenography become blurred. In fact, their tufted objects are so extensive that they become theatrical, inviting the user/spectator to come and experience them as they contemplate or lie down within these architectural installations. An invitation to wonder, to dream.
Maak & Transmettre’s approach is also characterized by a strong commitment to color and the use of local materials wherever possible. In the future, the trio aspires to move towards true “assembly” work, by creating links and echoes between furniture and textile objects.

At ease in the field of communication, with a keen eye for contemporary creation and design, Alice is happy to engage in scenography and curation to connect different worlds together.
Drawing on her diverse industrial experience, Mathilde specializes in knitwear and industrial textile techniques. She takes a sensitive approach to the world of colors, which influence and punctuate her research into materials.
Having written a dissertation on the curtain as a strong architectural element, Salomé knows how to share her expertise on this textile object, in addition to her teaching and knowledge-transfer skills.
